Buddha Bar Ocean Release Date

Buddha Bar Ocean DVD will be released in France on June 2nd with 7 tracks composed and produced by Amanaska. It comes as a DVD and CD pack and will be available from www.buddhabar.com

PARIS

I have just spent a week in Paris working on the new Buddha Bar DVD project planned for release in April 'Buddha Bar Ocean'. There will be 7 new Amanaska tracks on the CD/DVD. I also had the chance to catch up with Christophe Goze and plan some new collaborations in 2008.

What a blast it was last week playing with She Said Yes at the Evelyn and doing the visuals for them at the Town Hall gig. Both Tania and Irwin jumped up with me for my set at the Evelyn too! Good times..

LOOP GIGS CANCELLED

Happy New Year! The shows at Loop have been cancelled due to some problems they are having with the local council and the building owner. They are allowed to have DJs but not LIVE music. Go figure???? We are trying to find an alternative venue to do some shows at so stay tuned.

MO-VEMBER IS HAS BEGUN!

For those of you who don't know, Movember is a charity event that raises awareness and money for men's health. 2 of the main charities in Australia are for prostate cancer research and men's depression. Normally clean shaven folk like myself get a team together and get some sponsors to encourage us to grow the best moustache possible during the month of MOvember. Earthdance in WA

After 2 days back in Melbourne I jumped on a plane bound for Western Australia to perform at Earthdance. What a wonderful festival is was and a BIG thankyou to the WA crew for making our experience a great one. Will upload some videos soon featuring the superb dancing of the lovely Yamina. Can't wait to head out west again!

Anything Goze in Scandinavia

The shoes in Sweden were wonderful. The gig in Helsingborg was a hightlight with the stage backing onto the beach and the first gig with Flipside and Christophe Goze. Christophe played a wonderful DJ set before playing with me on guitar for my set. Wonderful! Flipside played a chilled set at sunset beofe things went tribal with an Amanaska set of Tribe2 tracks with the other crew jammin on stage.

Great Times in Estonia

An incredible time was had in Estonia. A big THANKYOU to Timm who put the tour together and really looked after me. Another really BIG thankyou to the people who came to the shows and got into the music and Birgit and Anika for singing Circles with me. There is nothing quite as fine as the Estonian summer experience. I was introduced to some new Estonian traditional sounds that will definitely inspire some tracks for the next album..

Back in Estonia

It was a crazy experience arriving in Estonia direct from NYC and playing 2 shows in different parts of the country but it all worked out fine. Viljandi was definately a highlight so thankyou to the crowd who lifted me up through the show. It was great to visit Setomaa again and cross into Russia briefly

Oh What A Night

Launch Tonight

To all those who live in Melbourne I hope you can make it down to finally celebrate the release of Circles. Even thought it has been available in Australia for almost a year now it will be released in Europe in July. Joining me tonight at Loop will be Janine Maunder who will play a support set of Naked Raven songs solo. For the Amanaska set I will be joined by Tania Doko, Lynelle Moran, Rod Davies and Janine on vocals. Jono Callow and James Richmond will be on percussion plus Greg Spence on trumpet. Leigh Wood will be spinning tunes from his vast collection through the night on the decks.

It's great to be home in Melbourne for a while but heading up to Byron is always a treat. Good to get out of the studio for some sun and surf. Looking forward to sharing some tunes with Tijuana Cartel and the Oka lads on Friday night at the FULL MOON party and next weekend up in the Gold Coast. Check the live page for details.

Thanks to the crew that got behind the global sounds at the Talvin show. BIG love out to Tania and Jono for sharing the ride. Talvin played a very eclectic set and the crowd got a taste of some his new record to be released in 07. It was good to hang with him after the show and share some stories.

I will be doing 2 solo sets at Peats Ridge Festival around NY. A live set in the Chai Tent and DJ set in the Dub Shack. Peace.

After almost escaping the Melbourne winter Simon is back in Melbourne again so stay tuned for gigs around Australia over the next few months.

Simon is currently on tour with Tribe2 and Fort Pastor in the US. Tribe2 have just completed a tour of the Baltic states and on to Montreal to perform at Just For Laughs festival. Tribe2 have been performing tracks from the debut Cd 'Freedom Deluxe' as well as tracks from Circles. Stay tuned for some tour videos.

Tribe2 "Freedom Deluxe" Finished

Amanaska has produced the debut Cd by Tribe2 which features some of the artists from Circles along with the amazing Jono on didge and percussion. You can listen to some tracks at myspace. The Cd will be available from the online shop in June.

PBS FM Radio interview TONIGHT May 7th

Tune into PBSFM 106.7 if you are in Melbourne, Australia at 10.15pm to listen to Amanaska being interviewed on Mike Glover's show, Border Crossing. They will be discussing the new album and playing some tracks. You can also listen online at www.pbsfm.org.au.

2006 TOUR with Tribe2 in EUROPE AND NORTH AMERICA

Amanaska will be touring in the Baltic states with another side project called Tribe2 in June/July and possibly doing some shows in Berlin with Naked Raven. Will keep you posted as things are confirmed.

You can also see Tribe2 perform at Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal Canada from July 13-23. Tribe2 will be supporting Fort Pastor for their US tour in August. All dates and venues will be posted on the gig page soon.

Tribe2's debut Cd (produced by Simon) will be released at the start of June and will be available from the online shop.

NEW ALBUM FINISHED

It's all done! Mixing was completed by Robbie Rowland and myself in January and mastered the following week. One World will be releasing it in April in Australia. Since then I have completed a remix for the new Naked Raven single coming out in Germany in March 'Here With You'. More info can be found at www.nakedraven.com. I have also begun mixing the new Rivetribe album. Stay tuned for some previews and downloads of Circles.

RECORDING FINISHED!!!!

This weekend we finished the recording process of the new record and the the contributions of all the musicians involved has breathed new life into the tracks. I have been totally blown away! The guys at One World have be very supportive and been involved as executive producers. I start mixing on Monday with Robbie so hope to have some samples up soon for you to check out. The title of the album will now be Circles instead of Diaspora and should be available in March from One World Records. Peace. simon

The 2005 Rivertribe European tour was a blast and we did some great shows, met some interesting musicians from around the globe and found some fresh inspiration. SURRENDER 05 CD

A remix of Pilgrim is on the compilation Cd Surrender 05. The CD features tracks by Steve Grace, Naked Raven, Brian Houston, Rivertribe, Sons of Korah, Sammy Horner, Paul Colman and many more. These are tracks specifically recorded by the artists for the project or are selections of the artist's favorite songs from their recent releases. All Tracks have been donated royalty-free for the support of UNOH's vital work with the world's urban poor and political refugees from countries such as Burma and the Congo. 9th March 2005...

'Diaspora' is the title for the new Amanaska album and Simon has written 11 new tracks and is currently finishing the recording process with many of the artists featured on 'Panorama' and some amazing new performers from around the globe. Some of the recording was done in Chennai, India in May 2004 (see photos) One World is planning to release it in May or June. There will be updates available soon from this site so stay tuned.

9th October 2004...

Simon has spent the last 6 months touring the world with Rivertribe and recording and producing their new album on locations in India, Ireland, USA and Portugal. He has recently produced a new Amanaska track 'Floating Downstream' that is included on the new Zen Connection 3 compilation released by One World. A new Amanaska release is in the pipeline for 2005 so stay tuned for updates.
